Statement on COVID-19
Updated: Dec 22, 2020
COVID-19 has forever changed the event industry and forced us to rethink how and why we gather. Until a vaccine is widely distributed, COVID-19 will continue to impact events, but I believe it is possible to gather safely for significant life events such as weddings and funerals. The purpose of this document is to outline how I help my couples plan weddings as safely as possible.
Most families and vendors are developing their own methods and philosophies around the virus during gatherings. As an event professional, I consider it my responsibility to keep everyone at my events (including myself, other vendors, and your loved ones) and the larger community safe while we gather. I have developed my standards and protocols based on the information provided by the Center for Disease Control’s suggestions for meetings and events, mainly:
COVID-19 spreads via respiratory droplets when someone breathes, talks, coughs, sneezes, or sings. Requiring a mask or face covering for all attendees significantly reduces the transmission of COVID-19 and saves lives.
It is possible to spread COVID-19 without any symptoms. A mask prevents the wearer from unknowingly infecting others.
The more people an individual interacts with at a gathering and the longer that interaction lasts, the higher the potential risk of becoming infected with COVID-19 and COVID-19 spreading.

Micro weddings and elopements are an inherently safer way to gather for marriage celebrations, and a smaller guest prevents the spread of disease. It is also easier to enforce safety measures. I am committed to following all local safety guidelines, and I will not make exceptions to plan weddings over fifty guests during this time.
For all events under fifty guests, there are several measures that can be taken in order to make an event safer or more hazardous. I have put together a chart of these measures and assigned them a risk level of between +5 and -3:
A Bespoke Socials event is required to have a score of 7 or higher. If a couple is wanting to plan an event that feels like an oasis away from COVID-19 (understandable!), it is possible to do so safely if significant measures are taken prior to the event. For example, if a couple wants to gather for more than 3 hours with dancing and no masks, their event has a score of -7, but by requiring quarantine and testing all guests before gathering (+10) and gathering with 20 local people they get their score up to 8.
